Utility Trailer Tailgate Party

Utility Trailer Tailgate PartyChances are you love Michigan sports, and you love to enjoy the experience with others. Whether you prefer high school, college, or professional sports, you probably enjoy a good tailgate, and your utility trailer can take it to the next level. Here are some tips for creating the perfect trailer party experience.

Safety First

It is important to keep first things first. If you are going to use your trailer as part of your tailgate party, be sure you think about safety for everyone.

Be sure anything you are transporting to your party is properly secured so that it doesn’t come loose en route. You also want to ensure it’s not moving around as you enjoy the big day.

When you are setting up, be sure to chock the tires to ensure the trailer does not move unexpectedly. Also, use a proper jack stand or footplate to ensure you do not damage the ground where you set up. Both of these combine to allow you to properly level and secure your trailer while you are enjoying the festivities.

Party Decor

The decor is the difference between a mere gathering of friends and a real party. Consider decking your trailer out with some large Mylar balloons and streamers that match your favorite team’s colors.

To take it up a notch, grab some napkins, plates, cups, and utensils that match the teams playing as well. If your friends support different teams, consider getting some supplies for both teams just to spice it up a bit.

While you are at the party supply store, consider getting a themed cornhole game, beverage cozies, and cooler. Finally, be sure you have plenty of folding chairs so there is a place for everyone to sit. All of this helps elevate not only the atmosphere but also the excitement and overall experience.

Weather Not Dependent

The game may not get rained out as easily as your party. Be prepared to ensure the weather will not stand in the way of a good time.

First, given the unpredictable weather in Michigan, you may consider a covered utility trailer over an open one. A covered trailer allows you to use the inside of the trailer for staging food and to retreat if it rains.

A popup tent or two can also make the entire space more comfortable, regardless of the kind of trailer you have. If you have an open trailer, you can put a tent over it to keep the sun off and rain out. Just be sure you bring what you need to effectively weigh it down, so it does not easily blow over.

Feeding the Party

One of the most important parts of the tailgate is the food. Regardless of whether you prefer burgers, steaks, brats, be sure you are ready to cook it up. If you are using propane, check to make sure you have enough fuel for the day. Make sure your grill is clean and ready to go so you can light it up and start enjoying food more quickly.

Audio & Video

Finally, be sure to consider any audio or video needs you may have. If your game is being televised, consider whether you want to have a way to watch it from your trailer. A digital antenna and a flat screen television mounted on the wall of the trailer.

Another fun option is a portable sound system that allows you to enjoy the radio broadcast of the game or music of your choice. Be sure to consider weather-resistant equipment so it will not get damaged in the sun, rain, or humidity.

If you do decide you want to plan for audio and video, think through your power needs. Plan to bring a generator, or possibly permanently attaching one to your trailer.
